Because the place I once called home started to feel like a bad relationship.
You keep hoping it’ll get better… but deep down, you know it’s changed and so have you.
I was born and raised in California. I built my life there, raised my family there, believed in it. But somewhere along the way, it stopped feeling like the California I grew up in. The rules: policies/laws/what’s acceptable, change as fast as the seasons, the peace is gone, and the sense of community we once had? Fading.
Now, raising my kids here in Idaho… it feels like how California felt in the 90s.
Neighbors still wave. Kids play outside. Families gather without feeling divided. It’s simple. It’s safe. It’s how life should feel.
Leaving wasn’t about giving up, it was about choosing peace over pressure, alignment over comfort, and the future over familiarity.
Leaving my career, my community, my family, and friends behind was brutal. There’s nothing clean or easy about starting over, it was messy, emotional, and full of moments where I questioned everything.
But I can say with 100% certainty:
I have zero regrets.
I’m constantly pulling back the curtain on what it really looked like to walk away from the life I knew in California and build something new in Idaho.
Starting over isn’t for the faint of heart… but I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. 💪🏼
